With a domestic subscriber base of 20 million, in 2004 Turkcell was far and away Turkey’s premier provider of mobile phone services. And as the only Turkish company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it was (and remains) one of the country’s flagship businesses. Ten years of wild success and tumultuous growth, however, had left the brand trailing behind.
Saffron was asked to advise Turkcell on how to bring the brand back up to date. We recommended a new brand architecture. We looked at ways the company’s beloved cartoon mascot Cell-O could be used more powerfully. We also proposed a new corporate vision to help Turkcell play a leading role in Turkey’s national ambitions.
