And the Saffron-Brunel Prize goes to…

03 Dec 2014

After a few years of guest lecturing at Brunel University’s MA in Design and Branding Strategy, we are now taking this collaboration further and announcing an exciting new initiative.

Launched in the summer of 2014, the Saffron-Brunel Prize for Excellence in Strategic Design and Branding was initiated by branding module leader John Boult and aims to promote the most promising young branding professionals taking the course each year.

After a selection process involving an individual paper on the future of brands, a one-day masterclass for the shortlisted students with the Saffron London team, and one-to-one interviews with the finalists, the 2014 Prize finally went to Sebastian Grenzhäuser. He has impressed our team us with his design-led approach to understanding organisations, as well as his insights into the future of brands and the role design plays into shaping organisations. Well done, Sebastian!

The Saffron-Brunel Prize is the second academic initiative we launch this year, after the IE Business School Wally Olins Saffron Award . Having a partnership with one of UK's leading programmes in design & brand strategy is first of all an opportunity to contribute to the education of the next generation of branding practitioners, but also the advantage of having a firsthand access to some of the freshest design thinking and brand strategy minds on the market.

Congrats to all shortlisted students: Akshara Manohar, Apurva Kochargaonkar, Ioanna Drouga, Jaimie Gerst, Jessie Cohen, Lee Jung-Hyun and Junpyo Kim! It was great meeting you all, you guys are brilliant! Onwards and upwards!

P.S. We liked Sebastian’s ideas so much that we invited him to write a guest article on our website. Click here to read his views on the future of brands.
