Galp has been at the heart of energy in Portugal for generations, originating in 1846 with the installation of Lisbon’s gas street lighting. Nearly two centuries later, the company had opened up to the world as an integrated energy operator, combining and coordinating multiple energy sources in the global market. To keep Galp’s brand relevant and connected to communities across a changing energy landscape, we created an identity that reflected its broader, cleaner mix of solutions and could grow with the business into the future.

Today and tomorrow’s progress

Energy is not an end in itself; it’s part of an infrastructure that facilitates progress. It powers factories and farms, heats homes and schools, and helps keep communities moving.
Positioning Galp as a partner that responds to society’s needs, the new brand speaks clearly about how its mix of fuels supports the world as it is today, and helps shape everyday life for the future.
This shift moved Galp beyond its oil-and-gas legacy to a people-centred, multi-energy brand with a clear promise: reliable energy that helps industry and individuals thrive.

Adaptable language

Galp’s historic identity had become a constraint as the company diversified. A new flexible design language maintains the equity of its heritage orange while expanding into a richer palette for broader audiences and contexts.
Removing the flame symbol from the wordmark allowed Galp to evolve without being tied to a single concept of energy, letting their name stand proudly on its own. Icons, type, animation and art direction work as one cohesive language, all aligned around the strategic idea of Galp being at the ‘Heart of Communities’, where energy and daily life meet.

Shape shifting

A system of biomorphic forms symbolises the constant flux of energy sources, and reflects Galp’s ever-evolving programme of solutions. The shapes interact with the geometry of the new logo, and scale from micro-UI to physical environments. The result is a visual language that is simple to use and easy to recognise.

Room to grow

Galp’s diversified offer demanded an architecture that felt distinctive yet connected. The new bespoke type shares the geometry of the Galp wordmark while allowing sub-brands to grow without losing cohesion.
From electric vehicle charging to home solutions and business services, the system flexes to label and guide, but is always recognisably Galp.

Places for people, not just cars

With a network of more than 1,400 service stations, most people interact with Galp on the move. Together, we explored a new vision for what role these spaces play, and redesigned them to better respond to people’s needs. Understanding that different communities have unique needs, our concept allows for diverse combinations of Galp’s services. From rural to urban and the highways connecting them, each station comes together according to what is most relevant locally.

The way forward

Galp’s new brand marked a clear shift, from energy provider to multi-energy partner for people, businesses and communities. It brought a growing, diversified offer together into one system that’s easier to use and recognise.
Nowhere is this more visible than in its service stations. By rethinking these spaces around humans, not just cars, Galp turned short stops into more valuable customer experiences.

What was once a functional network now works harder for both the business and its customers. A brand that connects services, improves everyday interactions and supports a cleaner, more flexible future of energy.
