The needs to ensure rescue, relief, and recovery are immense, and the people and communities in the region need us.

On 6 February 2023, a catastrophic earthquake struck Türkiye and Syria. One of the strongest ever recorded in Turkish and Syrian history, it has spurred a humanitarian crisis in the region. The death toll is already in the thousands and is expected to climb as the two countries experience aftershocks and freezing winter temperatures set rescue efforts back. 
Together with Saffron in Istanbul, our hearts are with those affected by the devastating earthquake in Türkiye and Syria. Now is a time to offer our support for our Turkish colleagues and team in Türkiye, to unite and remember that we all need each other. 
There is no shadow on the ground of great humanity no lamps in its streets no pane in its windowsBut great humanity has its hopes there can be no life without hope.
