Japan saw historical results in this years City Brand Barometer (CBB), our most global study to date. Tokyo landed the top spot among 104 cities worldwide and the country featured three city tourism brands in the top 20 the most among any nation.
With such relevance to the Japanese market, and given our growing relationships there thanks to our partnership with Original Inc., we wanted to make our CBB report available in Japanese.
In the report, we analyse the assets and buzz of 104 city brands worldwide to determine how their appeal and potential stack up when it comes to travel and tourism. From big name classics to rising challengers to diamond in the rough underperformers, CBB compares city brands shaping the tourism landscape across cultures and continents.
Saffron created the CBB in 2008 to explore which cities around the world have built the strongest place brands. As the only country with three cities in the top 20 (including Tokyo in first place, Kyoto, and Osaka), the results from the most recent report prove that Japan is a land of opportunity with tremendous assets including powerful city brand potential.
