City of Vienna, an outstanding global branding example

The sixth edition of ‘Designing Brand Identity’ is finally out, and we’re honoured to have our work featured once again.

Our collaboration with City of Vienna across strategy and design won a German Design Award for Excellence in Brand Identity as well as a Brand Impact Award. The work is now showcased in the newest edition of 'Designing Brand Identity' as an outstanding global branding example, including both a case study and a special presentation focused on place branding.

In our work with the City of Vienna, known as the 'world's most liveable city,' we set out to deliver on their comprehensive objectives: improving services for residents, city employees, businesses, and students, while also reinforcing Vienna's modernity and fostering unity among civil servants around a shared vision.

'Designing Brand Identity' is essential reading for branding professionals. It simplifies branding, covers the essentials, and provides a practical roadmap for creating lasting and memorable brands. The book is divided into three sections—brand fundamentals, process basics, and case studies. Co-authored by the late Alina Wheeler and Rob Meyerson, it includes over 50 new case studies, covers more than 100 branding topics, and showcases over 800 images, diagrams, and examples.

Hats off to the designer behind the book's cover, Eddie Opara of Pentagram. Saffron CEO and cofounder Jacob Benbunan joined Eddie on stage at Design Nation 2023 in NYC, and we're thrilled to see Eddie's creative touch enrich this edition.
